Job Description
About GE Aerospace
At GE Aerospace, we’re inventing the future of flight — lifting people up and bringing them home safely. As a world leader in jet engines, components, and integrated systems for both commercial and military aircraft, we’re driven by innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
Our proprietary lean operating model, FLIGHT DECK, underpins everything we do, empowering teams to continuously improve and find smarter, more sustainable ways to fly. For our people, this isn’t just a job — it’s a purpose. We work and win together, driven by a shared passion to reach higher.
About the Role
In this pivotal role, you’ll help shape the next generation of sustainable aviation technology by supporting new product introduction (NPI) programmes for advanced propulsion systems. You’ll turn bold design concepts into manufacturing reality — developing robust, efficient, and scalable production processes that demonstrate proof of concept through a pilot manufacturing line.
Working ahead of the development team, you’ll lead on process design, technology selection, facility layout, and quality planning, ensuring that manufacturing excellence is embedded from the start.
You’ll also champion design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA), lean principles, and automation, collaborating cross-functionally to resolve challenges and deliver reliable, high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities
Develop manufacturing plans including cell layouts, value stream maps, timing charts, and process flow diagrams to optimise cost, efficiency, and return on investment.
Work with cross-functional teams to influence product design, embedding manufacturability and reliability at every stage.
Champion APQP and PPAP processes within NPI, leading the creation of PFMEAs, Control Plans, and facility requirements for in-line process control.
Collaborate with suppliers and sourcing teams to manage equipment acquisition, installation, and commissioning.
Lead the design and delivery of a pilot line to showcase scalable, lean, and automated manufacturing solutions.
Use virtual manufacturing tools to simulate workflow, space, and automation requirements, supporting investment and design decisions.
Support value engineering and make/buy analyses for core and non-core components.
Act as the primary liaison between NPI, manufacturing, and engineering teams to coordinate manufacturing strategies and resolve technical issues using data-driven decision-making.
Desired Skills & Experience
Proven experience in manufacturing process design, particularly in automated or advanced production environments.
Knowledge of robotics, automation, and control systems specification, installation, and commissioning.
Expertise in one or more of the following:
High-volume composite manufacturing (CFRP/RTM)
CNC machining
Hydraulic systems
High-tolerance assembly
Non-destructive testing (NDT) such as X-ray or ultrasonics
Experience using 3D CAD tools (Catia, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
Exposure to virtual manufacturing, simulation tools, and real-time data monitoring systems for “factory of the future” environments.
Strong understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, APQP, and problem-solving methodologies (8D, PPS, RedX).
Familiarity with health & safety (H&S) and Construction Design & Management (CDM) regulations.
Knowledge of financial modelling (NPV/FV calculations).
Hands-on approach, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and influence decision-making through evidence and analysis.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
Experience managing NPI projects, including facility design, commissioning, and specification within an automated manufacturing environment (e.g., aerospace, automotive, FMCG, logistics).
Demonstrated capability in technical project or programme management.
Flexible Working
GE Aerospace supports flexible working arrangements wherever possible, promoting a positive work–life balance.
Total Reward Package
GE Aerospace offers a comprehensive and flexible benefits plan (FlexChoice), allowing you to tailor your rewards to your needs.
As a new joiner, your benefits include:
Non-contributory pension scheme
Life assurance
Group income protection
Private medical cover
26 days’ annual leave (with options to buy or sell additional days)
Security Clearance
This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which must be maintained throughout employment.
If clearance cannot be obtained, employment offers may be withdrawn for national security reasons.
Right to Work
Applications from candidates who require UK work sponsorship are welcome and will be considered equally.
However, under current immigration rules, candidates who do not require sponsorship may be prioritised if equally qualified candidates are available.
