JOB SUMMARY

 

Job Purpose

To provide expert advice, guidance, and support in the development and implementation of postgraduate student recruitment for the College of Medical, Veterinary, and Life Sciences, including PGT on-campus, PGT online distance learning, and PGR programs that contribute to the research communications strategy.

Main duties and responsibilities

1. To produce unique and innovative paid lead generation programs that increase engagement, awareness, and development communities while delivering a return on investment, with a particular emphasis on digital marketing communications.

2. In charge of proactively assessing and contributing to recruitment plans throughout the academic cycle, ensuring that marketing resources are fully employed, and monitoring shifting priorities and student expectations.

3. Collaborating with the Head of Marketing & Communications to create successful, evidence-based marketing plans that will enable the delivery of recruitment and research communication efforts.

4. To give expert advice, guidance, and assistance to academic and professional staff within the college on digital marketing (for example, finding the most successful digital platforms, content utilisation, target audience reach, and so on).

5. Develop and strengthen collaborative working connections with colleagues across the University to ensure College alignment with the University’s strategy and brand guidelines, while also improving and generating high-quality material for use in digital and external marketing efforts.

6. Collaborating closely with the College Multimedia material team to design and produce digital material for a range of channels (e.g., recruitment videos) to promote the College in various markets. In addition to investigating future technologies that could help with recruitment, conversion, and research communication tactics.

7. Create periodical reports to understand web and digital media usage and trends, utilising Google Analytics (and other analytics tools) to assess campaign efficacy and make future marketing recommendations.

8. Responsible for assessing and conducting A/B and multivariate testing to improve marketing campaign success and engagement.

9. Proactively review and administer the College’s PGT recruitment-focused web sites, improving the user journey and experience while supporting in the development and publication of compelling content to attract the relevant target audience.

10. Review and report on the in-year application performance across our portfolio of programs, priority markets, and understand how this relates to our internal KPIs.

11. Oversee the development and execution of marketing events in accordance with key strategic priorities and timeframes.

12. Contribute to the development of the College postgraduate portfolio (e.g., pricing, marketing, and student recruitment strategies); additionally, examine and analyse market and competition data, survey findings, and admissions statistics to generate reports and consider any future recommendations.

13. Review and oversee the development of printed recruiting marketing materials as needed.

14. Manage and deliver conversion activities for the team and the offer holder in order to support and meet the College’s conversion objectives.

15. Stay up to date on current changes and advancements in marketing communications.

Knowledge, qualifications, skills, and experience.

Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential:

A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 8 (Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4, Higher National Diploma) or equivalent, and experience in personal development in a related job.

A2 In-depth understanding of digital products and campaign management, including SEO, paid search (including Google Adwords), social media, and Google Analytics.

A3 Understanding of Lead Generation Marketing Campaigns

Desirable

B1 Degree in a relevant discipline and practical experience in a similar or related function

Skills

Essential:

C1 Demonstrated ability to produce unique and inventive concepts while producing creative campaigns to achieve strategic goals.

C2 Excellent copywriting, print management, T4 or other web content management skills.

C3 Project management and good organisational abilities, with the ability to set and achieve short-term and medium-term project objectives.

C4 Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complicated activities and projects concurrently, meeting tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

C5 Influencing and bargaining skills – build excellent ties with internal clientele.

C6 Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities.

C7 Proven capacity to operate on a proactive basis and use own initiative.

C8 Report writing skills – shown ability to write bespoke reports using specialist knowledge and evidence, with a high level of attention to detail.

C9 Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and verbal communication abilities, as well as the capacity to interact and develop fruitful working relationships with colleagues.

Experience

Essential:

E1 Capability to demonstrate the competencies required to perform the activities connected with this level of post, having gained the requisite knowledge and skills via personal development and progression in a similar related role(s).

E2 Experience with Google Analytics

E3 Experience creating, implementing, monitoring, optimising, and analysing paid digital marketing lead generation programs that include Google search, social media, native, and display advertising.

E4 Experience working independently, thinking critically, and exercising judgement.

E5 Experience developing, implementing, and adapting marketing programs to achieve strategic objectives.

E6 Experience with improving landing pages and user funnels, including using tools like as analytics, heatmapping, and A/B testing.

E7 Experience implementing successful e-communications activity.

Desirable:

F1 Experience working in a higher education institution.

 

Terms & Conditions.

The annual salary for Grade 6 will be £32,332 – £36,024.

This position is full-time and will cover maternity leave for up to 12 months, or until the substantive job holder returns.
