Duties and Job Responsibilities

1. Inspection and Assessment.

– Roof Inspections: Roofers inspect roofs for leaks, damage, and wear.

– Damage Evaluation: They assess the degree of the damage and recommend repairs or replacements.

2. Installation of Roof Materials

– Material Application: Roofers install a variety of roofing materials, such as shingles, tiles, metal panels, and membranes.

– Layering and Sealing: They guarantee that roofing materials are properly layered and sealed to avoid leaks and maintain durability.

3. Roof Repair

– Leak Repairs: Roofers repair or replace damaged roof portions to prevent leaks.

– Replacing Damaged Materials: They repair or replace broken or missing shingles, tiles, or other roofing components.

4. Maintenance Work.

Roofers undertake routine maintenance to extend the life of the roof, such as cleaning gutters, removing debris, and inspecting for signs of damage.

– Preventive Measures: They use treatments or coatings to preserve the roof from weather damage and ageing.

5. Installing Flashing and Underlayment

– Flashing Installation: Roofers apply flashing around roof edges, chimneys, and vents to keep water out.

– Underlayment Application: They use underlayment materials to provide an extra layer of protection beneath the roofing membrane.

6. Safety Compliance.

9. Preparing the Roof Surface

– Surface Inspection: Roof tilers inspect and prepare the roof surface, making sure it is clean, dry, and ready for tiling.

– Substrate Preparation: They may need to install or repair substrates, such as plywood or underlayment, to create a sturdy foundation for the tiles.

10. Tile installation

14. Maintenance and Repair.

SALARIES AND BENEFITS:

Annual salary ranges from £33000 and £39000, based on experience. Working 38 hours per week.

Working hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 4:30 p.m.
