About the role
The role will be in charge of delivering a professional, high-performing team while also ensuring the health and compliance of all areas of the digital estate.
You will ensure that all services function properly, are patched, secure, and maintained to current standards. You will ensure continuous improvement by monitoring and identifying issues, automating resolutions, and collaborating closely with the service delivery and infrastructure teams.
This is an interesting role that is critical to ensuring the University’s digital estate is secure and efficient, allowing the company to succeed. It is a technical lead role that will work closely with the Digital Operations manager to lift shift work from the infrastructure teams, ensuring the health of systems such as the network, endpoints, server (physical and Azure based), and Audio-Visual estate, among others, using current toolsets to help report on the health and usage of the estate and identifying gaps in process or efficiencies, allowing a mix of security, network, endpoint, and server operations to make up the
The IT manager will address estate concerns and escalate them to the infrastructure team for resolution as needed, as well as assist with first-line and field engineers and major infrastructure initiatives.
As part of the Service Delivery function, the role will involve working across several teams and locations as needed by the business.
The post holder will be responsible for managing a team of second-line and senior engineers, giving technical guidance to the team, and leading and coaching individuals to ensure a highly motivated and high-performing team.

This role is eligible for sponsorship by the University; however, your individual circumstances must meet the UKVI criteria, which include meeting the English Language requirement and earning the highest of either the going rate for the SOC code or the minimum salary threshold for the Skilled Worker route (£38,700 per year).

You must be under 26 years old, a recent graduate, or in professional training. Additionally, a PhD level certification relevant to your career is required.
You hold a postdoctoral position in science or higher education.
