Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced and motivated individual to take on a supervisory role within Hotel Services. This position plays a vital role in ensuring that patients, staff, and visitors experience a clean, safe, and welcoming healthcare environment.
As a Hotel Services Supervisor, you will lead and support a diverse team responsible for essential non-clinical services, including cleaning, catering, portering, and reception.
Working Pattern
Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Shifts between 6:45 AM – 6:15 PM
Includes weekends, bank holidays, and flexible shift patterns
Occasional travel to other Trust locations may be required
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Oversee the day-to-day delivery of hotel services across the site
Supervise teams including housekeepers, domestics, porters, catering staff, and reception teams
Monitor service quality and take corrective action where necessary
Ensure compliance with hygiene, safety, and cleanliness standards
Coordinate staff rotas and support workforce planning
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and high performance
Engage respectfully with patients, including those with mental health conditions or learning disabilities
Represent the department professionally and promote a positive image of the Trust

Essential Requirements
Qualifications
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject
Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 (with willingness to progress to Levels 3 and 4)
Numeracy and Literacy Level 2
Experience
- Proven experience supervising or managing staff on a daily basis
Experience using IT systems such as Microsoft Office
Knowledge
- Understanding of cleanliness standards and infection control
Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including Health and Safety Executive guidance
Awareness of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations
Basic understanding of HR procedures and stock management
Commitment to confidentiality and data protection
Skills
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
Ability to prioritise tasks and solve problems efficiently
Experience in rota planning and staff training
High attention to detail and quality standards
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working in a mental health or healthcare environment
Knowledge of Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE)
Experience in deep cleaning and specialist equipment use
