About the Role

We are seeking compassionate and motivated Healthcare Assistants to join our Trauma 2 Unit at Royal Cornwall Hospitals. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, supporting patients to feel their best, and contributing positively to a team.

Healthcare Assistants are vital members of the clinical team, providing hands-on care, supporting patients with daily activities, and helping deliver excellent patient experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with personal care, including hygiene, mobility, and feeding, in accordance with Trust protocols.
  • Support clinical staff in delivering care to trauma patients, ensuring safety, dignity, and comfort.
  • Record vital signs and perform routine clinical tasks such as 12-lead ECGs.
  • Participate in the multidisciplinary team, communicating effectively with colleagues, patients, and families.
  • Contribute ideas to improve patient care and ward processes while adhering to clinical standards.
  • Comply with all health and safety policies, safeguarding guidelines, and Trust protocols.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths.
  • NVQ Level 3 in acute care or working towards this qualification.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting, providing direct patient care.
  • Basic numeracy, literacy, and clinical recording skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience in an acute hospital environment.
  • Cannulation skills.

Training & Compliance:

  • Identity, professional registration, employment history, and reference checks.
  • Occupational Health clearance.
  • Satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check)
  • Right to work in the UK; sponsorship may be available but is not guaranteed (UK Skilled Worker Visa).
