The Role
As Head of Student Recruitment (East Asia), you will lead UCL’s efforts to attract outstanding students from key East Asian markets, with a particular focus on China. This is a strategic and hands-on role, combining team leadership, market insight, and international engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and mentoring two Liaison and Recruitment Managers and their teams, ensuring delivery against recruitment targets.
- Developing and implementing market-specific country plans, informed by trends and opportunities in East Asia.
- Acting as the subject-matter expert on East Asian markets, advising colleagues across Admissions, Global Engagement, Alumni Relations, and other departments.
- Representing UCL at international events and recruitment fairs, both in the UK and overseas.
- Coordinating international travel and engagement initiatives to strengthen UCL’s presence in the region.
- Driving innovation and continuous improvement in recruitment strategies, processes, and partnerships.

About You
We are looking for a strategic, results-driven leader with deep knowledge of international student recruitment and the East Asian market. You should have:
- Proven experience in student recruitment, admissions, or international marketing within higher education.
- Strong knowledge of East Asian education markets, particularly China.
- Ability to develop and deliver strategic recruitment plans with measurable outcomes.
- People management skills, including the ability to motivate teams, set targets, and foster a culture of excellence.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to influence colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.
- Experience managing budgets, working with overseas agents, or leading recruitment campaigns is highly desirable.
- Mandarin language skills are advantageous.
