We are looking for an experienced and compassionate GP with a strong interest in palliative and end-of-life care to join our team in Minehead. You’ll combine core general practice with dedicated leadership in palliative care, helping patients and families navigate some of life’s most important moments with dignity and support.
About the Role
This is a portfolio-style position offering both generalist GP responsibilities and a specialist focus on palliative medicine within the community.
You will:
- Deliver high-quality primary care to a diverse patient population
- Provide specialist input for patients with life-limiting conditions
- Lead anticipatory care planning and advance care discussions
- Support DNACPR decision-making in line with national guidance
- Optimise symptom control and medication management
- Work closely with community nurses, hospices, secondary care teams and social services
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives
- You’ll act as the clinical lead for palliative care within the practice, helping to shape how care is delivered across homes, care settings and PCN services.
Who We’re Looking For
You will:
- Be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and listed on the GP Specialty Register
- Be included on the NHS Performers List
- Have post-CCT experience in primary or urgent care
- Demonstrate postgraduate training or substantial experience in palliative medicine
- Be confident working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
- Show leadership capability and a proactive clinical approach
