Position Overview
HT Practice is seeking a motivated and adaptable Salaried General Practitioner to join its collaborative network of primary care practices across Ashton-under-Lyne.
This role offers the opportunity to work primarily from one base practice while occasionally supporting neighbouring practices when additional clinical cover is required. It provides an excellent pathway for GPs looking to build a diverse portfolio career while focusing primarily on patient care rather than administrative management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
The core element of this role involves delivering comprehensive primary care services, including:
- Conducting face-to-face, telephone, and digital consultations
- Diagnosing and managing acute and chronic medical conditions
- Prescribing treatments and monitoring ongoing therapies
- Reviewing diagnostic results such as blood tests and imaging reports
- Responding to hospital correspondence and clinical updates
Administrative Duties
Alongside consultations, GPs will complete routine clinical administration tasks such as:
- Reviewing pathology and investigation results
- Processing hospital discharge summaries and referral letters
- Managing electronic documentation through systems like EMIS and Docman
Practice Support Across the Network
Occasionally, you may be asked to assist other practices in the network when colleagues are on leave or when temporary staffing gaps arise. This ensures continuity of care for patients while providing you with exposure to varied clinical settings.
Working Environment

Essential Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council and a licence to practise
- Completion of the MRCGP training programme or expected completion soon
- Inclusion on the NHS England GP Performers List or eligibility for registration
- Recent clinical experience in UK general practice
- Strong clinical decision-making and patient communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Competence using primary care IT systems including EMIS and Docman
- GMC registration is availableÂ
Desirable Experience
While not mandatory, the following experience would strengthen an application:
- Experience working across multiple GP practices or networks
- A defined clinical interest such as women’s health, minor surgery, or palliative care
- Teaching or mentoring experience within medical education
- Additional qualifications relevant to primary care
Visa Sponsorship
Applications are welcome from international candidates who require sponsorship. The organisation can provide sponsorship under the UK Skilled Worker visa route, subject to eligibility.

Safeguarding and Compliance
