Role Overview

Dacorum Healthcare Providers Ltd is recruiting a General Medical Practitioner (ARRS GP) to work within the Delta Primary Care Network (PCN).

The successful candidate will deliver comprehensive primary care services to patients across participating GP practices. This role involves managing a varied caseload, diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical conditions, and supporting preventative healthcare initiatives.

Working within a collaborative network of healthcare professionals, the GP will help improve patient outcomes and contribute to the delivery of high-quality healthcare services within the local community.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

The GP will be responsible for providing comprehensive primary care services including:

  • Conducting face-to-face consultations and telephone appointments with patients.
  • Assessing and managing patients with undifferentiated or newly presenting health conditions.
  • Providing diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
  • Carrying out home visits when clinically required.
  • Managing repeat prescriptions and medication reviews.
  • Developing and implementing patient-centred care plans.

Patient Care and Preventive Medicine

  • Identify risk factors and screen patients for early signs of illness.
  • Provide health promotion advice, counselling, and lifestyle guidance.
  • Monitor chronic conditions in accordance with recognised clinical pathways.
  • Refer patients to specialist or secondary care services when appropriate.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date consultation records.
  • Manage patient correspondence, test results, and referrals efficiently.
  • Contribute data for clinical audits and service improvement.
  • Issue acute and repeat prescriptions in line with practice prescribing policies.

Professional Practice

  • Make independent clinical decisions in line with professional guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams within the Primary Care Network.
  • Follow national healthcare standards including guidance issued by National Institute for Health and Care Excellence.

Essential Requirements

Professional Registration

Applicants must hold:

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council.
  • Inclusion on the NHS Performers List.
  • Completion of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice within the last two years.

Eligibility Conditions

Applicants must not:

  • Be suspended or restricted from practising medicine under UK legislation.
  • Be subject to disciplinary restrictions preventing NHS clinical work.

Skills and Experience

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Strong clinical decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to manage complex patient cases independently.
  • Effective teamwork within multidisciplinary clinical environments.

Desirable Skills

  • Although not essential, the following experience would be beneficial:
  • Previous experience in NHS General Practice.
  • Familiarity with Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) requirements.
  • Knowledge of medicines management protocols.
  • Experience using EMIS clinical systems.
  • Active engagement in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
