Job Description
Support the Farming Community When It Matters Most
We are proud to work alongside farming families across West Wales, providing dependable veterinary care to beef, sheep and mixed enterprises throughout the year. Our Farm 24 Out-of-Hours service plays a vital role in protecting livestock health and supporting rural livelihoods — and we are now looking for an experienced farm vet to help shape its future.
This is a role designed around sustainability — for our clients, our animals, and for you.
The Role: Independent Emergency Farm Work
This position focuses primarily on out-of-hours farm emergencies, particularly:
- Obstetrical cases
- Acute illness presentations
- Urgent herd health situations
- You’ll need to feel confident working independently during night shifts while maintaining strong, professional relationships with farmers and colleagues.
- All veterinary care is delivered in accordance with the professional standards set by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS)
- Livestock welfare is upheld in line with the Animal Welfare Act 2006
- Medicines are prescribed and administered following the UK’s Veterinary Medicines Regulations
- Seasonality is part of farm life. Spring brings busier lambing and calving periods, balanced by quieter months that allow for meaningful recovery time.
- If you live locally, some emergencies may be attended from home. Accommodation is available during your on-call blocks if needed.
Flexibility That’s Genuine
We recognise that no two vets want the same working pattern. Our goal is to build a sustainable out-of-hours model that works for the right candidate.
Possible rota options include:
- 1 week on / 1 week off
- 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off
- Alternative bespoke patterns by discussion
- Optional day work during off-weeks to maintain clinical variety
- We’re open to shaping the role — whether you want a purely OOH focus or a blended clinical position.
- Holiday entitlement aligns with UK statutory guidance
What We Offer
We believe that emergency work should be properly supported and fairly rewarded.

- Salary up to £65,000 FTE (depending on experience and rota)

- Additional birthday leave
