About the Role
University of Reading is seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Administrative Support Officer to join the School of Biological Sciences.
This is a hands-on, office-based role supporting the smooth day-to-day running of school operations, with a particular emphasis on financial administration. Working within a friendly executive support team, you will help maintain efficient systems, deliver responsive service to staff and students, and ensure administrative processes run accurately and on time.

What You’ll Be Doing
Your work will include:
- Providing reliable administrative and financial support to academic and professional staff
- Processing financial information accurately using internal systems
- Supporting office workflows and documentation management
- Responding to enquiries with a professional, customer-focused approach
- Coordinating tasks and deadlines in a busy working environment
- Using digital tools to maintain records and communication
The role is based in the Health and Life Sciences Building on the Whiteknights campus and involves close collaboration with colleagues across the School.
What We’re Looking For
We welcome applicants who demonstrate:
- Experience in a fast-paced administrative or office support environment
- Familiarity with financial systems (higher education experience is advantageous)
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- A customer-service mindset
- Excellent organisational and time-management ability
- Confidence using Microsoft Office, Teams, and related digital systems
