Job Description

Job Title: Environmental and Sustainability Support Specialist

Job Summary:

Join our team and work closely with the Environment and Sustainability Specialist and the site operations team to ensure 100% compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations and procedures. Your role will focus on promoting a strong environmental culture while supporting initiatives to maintain and improve sustainability across the site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Environment and Sustainability Specialist in ensuring compliance with GE requirements and UK legislation.
  • Support the implementation of the EHS Framework, particularly those elements related to environmental management.
  • Participate in environmental and sustainability campaigns and help drive site improvements.
  • Aid in communicating and delivering site-specific environmental and sustainability goals.
  • Support report writing and data collection for Pollution Prevention and Control Permit compliance.
  • Assist with site compliance inspections and contribute to EHS program evaluations.
  • Help manage site waste and implement waste minimisation initiatives.
  • Support the management of the site chemicals program, including COSHH, DSEAR, REACH, and chemical storage.
  • Contribute to energy, greenhouse gas, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Assist in the recognition, evaluation, and control of physical and chemical hazards on site.
  • Foster the continual development of best practices through sharing and communication.
  • Participate in EH&S meetings and leadership safety meetings.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements:

  • IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management.
  • NEBOSH Environmental Awareness qualification.
  • Knowledge of EHS legislation and regulations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer use and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Proven ability to lead process improvements in a team environment.
  • Experience in chemical process management.
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks and multitask effectively.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Flexibility to provide EHS support and training across shifts.
