Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing and innovative mental health service dedicated to supporting children and young people at an early stage—before challenges escalate.

Working as part of the Wellbeing in Mind team, you will play a key role in delivering accessible, school-based mental health support across Hambleton and Richmond. These teams are part of a national initiative to strengthen early intervention services by connecting education settings with NHS mental health care.

 Your Contribution

Your role will be balanced across three main areas:

1. Promoting Whole-School Wellbeing

  • Support schools and colleges in developing mental health strategies
  • Contribute to wellbeing policies and awareness initiatives
  • Deliver workshops, assemblies, and PSHE-related sessions

2. Supporting School Staff

  • Offer practical advice and consultation to teachers and staff
  • Help build confidence in managing student wellbeing concerns
  • Provide both structured and informal guidance

3. Direct Support for Young People

  • Carry out mental health assessments within education settings
  • Deliver low-intensity psychological interventions (mainly CBT-based)
  • Work with individuals and small groups, including parents when appropriate
  • Each of these areas forms an equal part of your workload, creating a varied and rewarding role.

 Essential Qualifications

  • Completion of a Postgraduate EMHP qualification (HEE-approved or BPS-accredited)
  • Registration with British Psychological Society or British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies
  • Trained within the CYP IAPT Low Intensity programme

 Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting children and young people with emotional or mental health difficulties
  • Ability to deliver low-intensity CBT interventions effectively
  • Experience working within educational settings
  • Strong report writing and communication skills
  • Ability to manage workload independently
  • Competence in risk assessment and safeguarding practices
  • Confidence in building therapeutic relationships

 Practical Requirements

  • Ability to travel independently across Hambleton & Richmond
  • Access to a suitable vehicle for work purposes
  • Adjustments can be considered under the Equality Act 2010
