Role Overview

As a Deputy Ward Manager, you will be a pivotal member of the acute ward team, supporting both patients and staff. You will assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating individual patient care plans, ensuring dignity, wellbeing, and effective treatment.

Your leadership and supervision will support clinical staff while contributing to the professional development of your team. You will also be involved in routine ward duties, facilitating a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in delivering individual care plans, supporting patients through recovery and rehabilitation.
  • Provide clinical supervision to ward staff and support training initiatives (training in supervision is desirable).
  • Oversee day-to-day ward operations, including facilitating patient activities and routine tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with mental health standards, governance, and safety regulations.
  • Support multidisciplinary collaboration between nurses, therapists, and medical staff.
  • Maintain accurate records and utilise technology for patient care documentation.

What We Are Looking For

  • First-level Registered Nurse (RMN) with at least 3 years post-registration experience.
  • Clinical supervision experience (training in supervision desirable).
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and commitment to maintaining leadership skills.
  • Experience in Acute Mental Health care.
  • Strong computer literacy and ability to use IT systems effectively.
  • Resilience, empathy, and excellent communication skills to support patients and staff.
  • Mentorship experience is desirable, though training will be provided.
