About the Role

Aberystwyth University is seeking a Clinical Skills Lecturer Practitioner (Registered Nurse – Adult Field) to join its Healthcare Education team. This role forms part of the University’s mission to support the healthcare workforce in Mid-Wales by expanding opportunities for local training and education.

Working in partnership with Local Health Boards and key stakeholders, the University has launched programmes including:

BSc Adult Nursing (full-time and part-time)

BSc Mental Health Nursing (full-time and part-time)

Return to Nursing Practice (Adult Field)

Level 4 Certificate in Healthcare Studies

The successful candidate will teach and support students in clinical skills and simulation, contributing to pre-registration nursing programmes and CPD provision. The role is part-time (two set days per week), allowing applicants to continue working in clinical practice alongside teaching.

You will work closely with the Principal Lead & Head of Healthcare Education, as well as the Clinical Skills and Simulation Leads, to design and deliver high-quality education in both English and Welsh.

Key Responsibilities

Teach and assess clinical skills and simulation for nursing students.

Act as module coordinator and contribute to curriculum development.

Collaborate with service users, NHS partners, and colleagues to improve programmes.

Provide academic support, supervision, and assessment in practice learning environments.

Ensure teaching and practice align with the NMC Code and revalidation requirements.

Act as a professional role model for students.

Support student placements and contribute to placement capacity planning.

Engage in scholarly activity and share best practice in healthcare education.

Support colleagues, attend meetings, and participate in university events such as Open Days and Graduation.

Promote equality, diversity, sustainability, and health and safety across all activities.

About You – Essential Criteria

Registered Nurse (Adult field) with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Nursing degree and evidence of continued professional development.

Extensive clinical experience across different healthcare settings.

Experience in clinical and/or simulation teaching.

Knowledge of new NMC education standards and the Once for Wales core curriculum.

Strong communication, presentation, and teaching skills.

Coaching and facilitation experience.

UK driving licensee (essential due to clinical visits) and willingness to travel.

Ability to engage with bilingual teaching (English and Welsh).

Desirable:

Master’s degree (or willingness to work towards).

PhD (or willingness to work towards).

Fellowship of the HEA.

Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards).

Ability to communicate in Welsh to at least Level B2.
