We are seeking a motivated and forward-thinking doctor to join our Clinical Simulation team as a Simulation Fellow. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence how healthcare professionals train, rehearse, and refine their clinical practice through immersive, high-quality simulation education.

Working within the Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC), you will contribute directly to the wider strategy of the GOSH Learning Academy an institutional commitment to innovation, excellence, and lifelong learning.

The Purpose of the Role

The Simulation Fellow plays a central role in:

  • Designing and delivering contemporary simulation-based education
  • Expanding innovative technologies such as augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) into existing programmes
  • Evaluating and enhancing training impact
  • Supporting learners and supervisors to identify development needs
  • Maintaining and exceeding professional educational standards

You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team that includes clinicians, educators, simulation technicians, and academic leaders.

What You Will Be Doing

 Educational Development & Delivery

  • Develop and facilitate simulation-based training across clinical disciplines
  • Contribute to curriculum design aligned with postgraduate training standards
  • Support the integration of immersive technologies into teaching programmes
  • Assist in faculty development initiatives

 Learner Support & Mentorship

  • Provide structured feedback to learners
  • Support supervisors in maximising training impact
  • Encourage reflective practice and critical appraisal skills

 Innovation & Evaluation

  • Participate in educational research and quality improvement projects
  • Contribute to programme evaluation and outcome measurement
  • Support continuous development of the Clinical Simulation Centre portfolio

Essential Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • Primary Medical Qualification (MBBS or equivalent)
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) (current or achievable by start date)
  • MRCPCH, FRCA, MRCS or equivalent postgraduate qualification
  • ST3–ST8 training level (or equivalent experience)
  • Evidence of engagement in medical education
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of core educational principles

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Formal qualification in Medical Education
  • Experience facilitating simulation training
  • Curriculum development experience
  • Research or quality improvement activity
  • Peer-reviewed publications
  • National or international presentations
