Shape the Future of Finance Education

The ICMA Centre at Henley Business School, part of the University of Reading, is seeking to appoint an accomplished and committed Associate Professor in Finance.

This is an opportunity for a dedicated academic to contribute meaningfully to teaching excellence within one of the UK’s established finance departments. You will play a central role in delivering high-quality finance education, supporting students academically, and contributing to the leadership and administration of programmes within the Department of Finance and Accounting.

The department consists of two core areas: Finance (ICMA Centre) and Accountancy. This post is based within Finance and will primarily contribute to teaching activities at the Whiteknights campus.

Your Role and Contribution

As Associate Professor, you will contribute across three core areas: teaching, academic citizenship, and leadership.

Teaching and Academic Delivery

You will deliver teaching across undergraduate and pre-experience master’s programmes in finance. While final module allocation will be agreed with the Head of Department, experience in the following areas would be particularly valuable:

  • Introductory Econometrics
  • Fixed Income Markets
  • Alternative Investments
  • Derivatives
  • Investments

Quantitative Methods in Finance

You will be expected to provide engaging, research-informed teaching that supports student success and maintains the School’s academic standards.

Leadership and Academic Citizenship

In addition to teaching, you will:

  • Undertake module leadership and related administration
  • Contribute to academic governance and departmental service
  • Support programme development and student engagement
  • Participate in broader academic leadership activities consistent with the Associate Professor level

Essential Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must demonstrate:

  • A PhD in Finance
  • Experience teaching Finance at university level
  • Experience delivering teaching in English within the UK higher education system
