About the Role
Henley Business School, part of the University of Reading, is inviting applications for an Associate Professor in Finance to join its internationally respected ICMA Centre. This is a permanent, full-time academic appointment based at the Whiteknights campus.
This role is ideal for an academic with a strong background in finance education who enjoys teaching, contributing to curriculum leadership, and supporting student development. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative academic environment, helping to deliver high-quality teaching while also contributing to departmental administration and scholarly activity.
The Department of Finance and Accounting combines expertise in both finance and accountancy. The appointee will primarily support the finance stream, delivering teaching and academic leadership consistent with Associate Professor responsibilities.
Teaching & Academic Contribution
You will contribute to undergraduate and pre-experience postgraduate teaching in core finance disciplines. While teaching allocation will be agreed with the Head of Department, expertise in one or more of the following areas is particularly valued:
- Introductory Econometrics
- Fixed Income Markets
- Alternative Investments
- Derivatives
- Investments
Quantitative Methods in Finance
In addition to classroom teaching, the role includes:
- Module coordination and academic administration
- Student mentoring and academic support
- Participation in academic leadership and citizenship
- Contribution to curriculum development and scholarship
Essential Requirements
Applicants must demonstrate:
- A PhD in Finance or a closely related discipline
- Experience teaching finance at university level within the UK higher education system
- The ability to teach effectively in English
