Overview of the Role

Henley Business School is inviting applications for a full-time Associate Professor in Accounting, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to a highly research-active and internationally recognised academic community. The postholder will join the Department of Finance and Accounting and play a key role in strengthening our research profile, delivering high-quality teaching, and supporting academic leadership and citizenship across the School.

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate strong research potential, an established pipeline of publications in leading Accounting journals, and the ambition to contribute to the School’s strategic priorities in research excellence, innovation, and student experience.

Sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route may be available for applicants who meet the points-based immigration requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Research

  • Conduct high-quality independent research that contributes significantly to the field of Accounting.
  • Demonstrate research leadership through publishing in top-tier journals, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to research culture.
  • Develop and submit applications for competitive research grants.

Teaching

  • Deliver engaging and rigorous teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Contribute to modules across broad Accounting areas; experience in Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, and Accounting Data Analytics is highly desirable.
  • Supervise student dissertations and support curriculum enhancement and innovation.

Leadership & Citizenship

  • Undertake administrative responsibilities relating to modules, programmes, and departmental activities.
  • Promote academic citizenship, contributing positively to departmental culture and governance.
  • Engage in academic leadership roles where appropriate and support strategic initiatives within the School.

Applicant Profile

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • A PhD in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
  • Evidence of high-quality publications in leading Accounting journals.
  • University-level teaching experience with strong student feedback.
  • Demonstrable competence in data analytics for Accounting.
