About the Role
Withington Medical Practice is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Salaried General Practitioner to join our friendly and close-knit multidisciplinary team. This role is ideal for a newly qualified GP looking to develop their career within a supportive, well-organised training practice.
You will work across a broad range of clinical activities, contributing to high-quality, patient-centred care while being supported by experienced colleagues and an active Primary Care Network (PCN).
Our practice is CQC rated “Good” and operates under the GMS contract, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, learning, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
In line with the General Medical Services (GMS) contract and PCN timetable, the post holder will be expected to undertake a varied and balanced workload, including:
- Face-to-face and telephone consultations
- Home visits, as required
- Duty doctor and telephone triage cover on a shared rota
- Reviewing, checking and signing repeat prescriptions
- Managing clinical correspondence, referrals, and reports
- Processing test results, Docman workflows, and other clinical administration
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date clinical records
- Managing patients with long-term and chronic conditions
- Working collaboratively to share workload fairly across the team
Professional & Practice Development
You will also be expected to:
- Contribute to clinical governance, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
- Participate in significant event reviews and learning processes
Support and supervise ARRS staff
- Assist with the training of medical students and learners
- Engage fully in appraisal, revalidation, and continuing professional development (CPD)
- Attend and actively contribute to practice meetings
- Take delegated responsibility for specific clinical areas or QOF domains
- Support the partners in achieving the strategic and financial objectives of the practice

Withington Medical Practice is a small, community-focused surgery serving approximately 5,500 patients. We pride ourselves on being approachable, inclusive, and supportive.

- Pharmacy Technician
- Practice Manager
- 4 experienced Administrators
We are part of an active PCN, with excellent collaborative working relationships across local practices.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- GMC registered GP with a licence to practise (no restrictions)
- On a UK Performers List
- Within 2 years of CCT at the start of the ARRS role
- Experience working in UK General Practice
- Experience supporting vulnerable patient groups
Clear Enhanced DBS check
- Right to work in the UK (Skilled Worker sponsorship considered)
- Strong organisational, time-management, and clinical decision-making skills
- Commitment to evidence-based medicine and safe prescribing
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in elderly medicine and frailty
- Experience or interest in LGBTQ+ health
- Familiarity with EMIS Web
- Interest in leadership, education, or service development
