About the Role
Withington Medical Practice is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Salaried General Practitioner to join our friendly, close-knit team for four sessions per week. This role is ideal for a newly qualified GP or an early-career GP looking to build confidence within a supportive training environment.
You’ll work as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while contributing to the ongoing development of the practice and wider Primary Care Network (PCN).
We operate under the BMA model contract, are a training practice, and are proud to hold a CQC “Good” rating.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
In line with the GMS contract and PCN priorities, you will:
- Provide face-to-face and telephone consultations
- Undertake home visits when clinically appropriate
- Manage acute presentations and long-term conditions
- Review, sign and manage repeat prescriptions
- Process clinical correspondence, test results, referrals and reports promptly
- Participate in a shared duty doctor and triage rota
- Maintain accurate, high-quality clinical records
- Contribute equally to the practice workload, supporting a culture of teamwork
- Work in accordance with NICE guidance and evidence-based practice
- Wider Practice Contribution
You will also be encouraged to:
- Take responsibility for a specific clinical or QOF area
- Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement and governance
- Support and supervise ARRS staff
- Contribute to practice meetings and service development
- Assist in the training and supervision of medical students
- Engage fully with annual appraisal and revalidation
- Commit to ongoing continuing professional development (CPD)
About Us
We are a small, welcoming practice based in Withington, serving approximately 5,500 patients. Our team includes:
- 1 GP Partner
- 1 Salaried GP
- 1 Physician Associate
- Pharmacy Technician
- Practice Manager
- 4 experienced Administrators
We work closely together and are part of an active and supportive PCN, sharing learning, resources and best practice to improve patient outcomes and staff wellbeing.
Person Specification
Essential Experience
- Experience working in UK General Practice
- Within 2 years of CCT at the start of the ARRS role
- Experience supporting vulnerable patient groups
Desirable Experience
- Elderly medicine and frailty
- LGBTQ+ health
Qualifications & Professional Requirements (Essential)
- GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Inclusion on the NHS Performers List
- Qualified General Practitioner
- Enhanced DBS clearance
- Right to work in the UK (Skilled Worker sponsorship considered)
Strong understanding of:
- Evidence-based prescribing
- Chronic disease management
- Clinical governance and self-reflection
- Time management and prioritisation
Desirable Skills
- EMIS Web experience
- Leadership or teaching experience
- Service development or quality improvement involvement
