Role Overview

Medivet is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join the organisation as an Area Vet, providing clinical leadership across several practices in the Chelmsford region.

This role combines hands-on veterinary practice with mentorship and leadership responsibilities. You will support veterinary teams across multiple clinics, helping to maintain consistent clinical standards and excellent patient care while encouraging professional development among colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership

  • Provide professional guidance and support to veterinary surgeons and nursing teams across multiple practices
  • Promote high clinical standards and ensure best practice guidelines are followed
  • Assist with clinical governance and quality assurance across the practice network

Mentoring and Training

  • Support veterinary staff with professional development and CPD opportunities
  • Mentor less experienced colleagues and help develop clinical skills across the team
  • Encourage knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the cluster

Clinical Practice

  • Deliver high-quality veterinary care through consultations and surgical procedures
  • Develop and discuss treatment plans with pet owners
  • Maintain compliance with professional and regulatory standards

Operational Collaboration

  • Work closely with practice managers and clinical teams to improve workflow and patient outcomes
  • Contribute to implementing new protocols and clinical improvements across the practices

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will bring both clinical experience and leadership capability.

Applicants should have:

  • Registration as MRCVS (Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons)
  • Experience in small-animal veterinary practice
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Confidence in clinical decision-making and case management
  • A collaborative approach to teamwork and mentoring

Working Environment

As an Area Vet, you will work across several veterinary clinics within the Chelmsford region, allowing you to interact with a variety of teams and clinical cases.
