Veterinary Surgeon (Surgery Focused) – Medivet Quarrington
Location: Sleaford, Lincolnshire, UK
Hours: 40 hours/week over four days (flexible working patterns considered)
Saturday Rota: 1 in 4 (08:30 – 14:30)
Medivet Quarrington is seeking an ambitious and confident Veterinary Surgeon with a keen interest in surgical development and advanced clinical practice. This role is ideal for someone who holds or is working towards a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (CertAVP) in Small Animal Surgery, and who wants to take a lead in surgical case planning and peri‑operative care.
About the Practice
Medivet Quarrington is a well‑established, fully equipped small animal practice serving a loyal and varied client base. The facility includes:
- Five consulting rooms
- Dedicated dog and cat wards
- Spacious operating theatres
- Modern diagnostic and surgical equipment (ECG, orthopaedic kit, digital & dental X‑ray, ultrasound, etc.)
Our diverse caseload and supportive team culture make this practice an excellent environment for clinical growth. We are proud to be a training practice for both veterinary nurses and veterinary surgeons.
Your Role
As a Veterinary Surgeon at Medivet Quarrington, you will:
Provide high‑quality clinical care in both consultation and surgical settings
Contribute to surgical planning and lead peri‑operative case management
Work collaboratively within a supportive multi‑disciplinary team
Help mentor and support clinical peers and trainees
Foster excellent relationships with clients and the wider community
You will manage cases to the highest professional standards in line with current practice policies and regulatory expectations. Veterinary surgeons working in the UK must comply with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Practice Standards and maintain ongoing professional development.
Who We’re Looking For
You are:
- A qualified Veterinary Surgeon (MRCVS) with a genuine passion for surgery and clinical excellence
- Either already pursuing or intending to pursue CertAVP (Surgery)
- A team player, confident communicator, and proactive clinician
- Someone who enjoys variety in caseload and thrives in a collaborative environment
- If you qualified overseas, you must hold full RCVS registration before practising in the UK.
RCVS registration for overseas vets - If you require immigration permission to work in the UK, note that this role may be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route.
