About the Opportunity
The University of Sussex is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Admissions Compliance Manager to support and strengthen compliance processes related to international student admissions and UKVI regulations.
This role plays an important part in ensuring that admissions procedures align with immigration requirements, applicant communication standards, and institutional compliance frameworks. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with admissions teams, academic departments, marketing staff, and immigration advisers to maintain high standards of operational accuracy and student support.
The position is ideal for professionals with experience in CAS management, international admissions, compliance operations, or higher education administration who are passionate about improving the international student journey.
Key Responsibilities
Admissions & Compliance Management
- Oversee day-to-day UKVI and CMA compliance activities during the student admissions process
Promote a compliance-focused culture across admissions operations
Ensure accurate and timely processing of Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) documentation
Review and improve admissions compliance procedures and workflows
CAS Issuance & International Student Support
- Lead a small operational team during CAS issuance periods
Conduct pre-CAS assessments, including financial and documentation checks
Respond to applicant enquiries and escalate complex immigration cases where necessary
Monitor the efficiency and accuracy of CAS processes and recommend future improvements
Training & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Deliver guidance sessions and compliance briefings for admissions teams, academic staff, agents, and applicants
Work closely with Academic Quality and Marketing teams to ensure applicants receive timely updates regarding course changes
Maintain accurate records of communication and compliance activities
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate operational performance after each admissions cycle
Identify training needs and implement process enhancements
Support institutional compliance and quality assurance objectives
Candidate Profile
Essential Experience & Skills
- Experience managing or supporting CAS issuance processes within higher education
Understanding of UKVI regulations and international student admissions compliance
Knowledge of finance checks and pre-CAS verification procedures
Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced admissions environment
Preferred Qualities
- Commitment to improving the international student experience
Awareness of compliance standards related to higher education communication and admissions
Experience working collaboratively across departments and teams
Confidence delivering training or guidance sessions
