About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Academic Developer to join our Academic Development and Enhancement team at the University of Reading.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in shaping teaching excellence across the institution. You will contribute to the design and delivery of our Academic Practice Programme, supporting colleagues who are new to teaching and learning support roles. Your work will help strengthen teaching quality, assessment practice, and inclusive learning design across undergraduate and postgraduate provision.
You will also collaborate with academic schools and professional teams on enhancement projects, develop innovative resources, and contribute to professional development activities delivered both in the UK and with our international partners, including our Malaysia campus.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading and contributing to the Academic Practice Programme for new academic staff
- Designing engaging professional development workshops and resources
- Supporting enhancement initiatives aligned with the University’s Programme Principles
- Advising on contemporary pedagogical developments, including the implications of generative AI in teaching, assessment, and feedback
- Working collaboratively with academic schools and cross-functional teams
- Supporting international academic partnerships and provision
What We’re Looking For
You will bring:
- Strong knowledge of current developments in higher education pedagogy at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Experience designing and delivering impactful academic development initiatives
- Insight into emerging issues such as generative AI in education
- A clear commitment to inclusive and accessible teaching practices
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
