About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Academic Developer to join a dynamic Academic Development and Enhancement team at the University of Reading.
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping and delivering our Academic Practice Programme, which supports colleagues involved in teaching and learning across the University. You’ll work closely with academic schools and teams to design, deliver and evaluate professional development opportunities that enhance teaching, assessment and learning experiences—both in the UK and internationally, including at our Malaysia campus.
Your work will help drive pedagogical excellence and contribute to strategic enhancement projects that support staff at all career stages.
Key Responsibilities
As an Academic Developer, you will:
- Lead and innovate within the Academic Practice Programme for new and existing teaching colleagues.
- Design and deliver engaging professional development activities aligned with institutional learning principles.
- Advise and partner with schools and departments to enhance curriculum, learning experiences, assessment and feedback practices.
- Create inclusive and accessible learning resources and workshops.
- Contribute to cross-institutional projects and collaborate with international partners.
Support colleagues to use educational technologies, including addressing the pedagogical implications of generative AI for teaching and assessment.
What We’re Looking For

- Proven experience in designing and facilitating professional development for educators.
- Confidence working collaboratively across diverse academic and professional teams.
