What is the Programme About?

BlackRock’s Apprenticeship Programme gives recent school leavers a fantastic way to earn while you learn in the world of asset management. This is an 18-month paid training contract starting in September 2026.

You will jump straight into real work alongside experienced professionals, picking up hands-on skills every day. At the same time, you’ll study for a respected industry qualification, with dedicated support from your manager, a buddy, and a coach to guide you along the way.

Finish successfully, and you’ll be in a strong position to receive an offer for a full-time role at BlackRock.

Qualifications You will Earn

By completing the programme, you’ll achieve:

  • In London: Level 4 Investment Operations Specialist
  • In Edinburgh: SCQF Level 6 Providing Financial Services or SCQF Level 8 Software Developer

Entry requirements

Education
We welcome applications from all academic backgrounds no specific subjects required beyond the basics.

  • London roles: You need at least grade 4 (or equivalent) in GCSE English Language and Maths, plus at least grade C in three A-levels (or equivalent, such as BTEC Nationals), achieved by September 2025.
  • Edinburgh roles: You need a pass (or equivalent) in National 5 English Language and Maths, and to have completed three Highers (or equivalent) by September 2025.

Important: You must not have already completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any subject.

Eligibility / Right to Work

To join the programme, you need to:

  • Be a UK citizen or hold valid proof of your right to work in the UK
  • Have lived in the UK or the European Economic Area (EEA) for at least the last 3 years (or, if not a UK/EEA citizen, have resided in the UK for the last 3 years)

How to apply

  1. Fill out the online application form and attach your CV.
  2. If shortlisted, you’ll be asked to record video responses to 3 pre-interview questions (you have up to 5 days to complete and submit them—missing the deadline means your application is withdrawn).
  3. Successful candidates move to a virtual interview with the hiring team.
  4. The final stage is an in-person assessment centre at our office, where you’ll meet current apprentices, do more interviews, and join a group exercise.
