About the Role
Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a registered nurse to join the Beacon Day Unit at Musgrove Park Hospital.
This is an opportunity to develop your nursing career within oncology and haematology while supporting patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT).
You will begin at Band 5, with structured training and ongoing support designed to help you develop the specialist knowledge and practical skills needed to become competent in SACT delivery. There is also an opportunity to progress towards a Band 6 position as your experience and competencies develop.
The successful applicant will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and contribute to safe, compassionate and evidence-based patient care.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
– Providing safe and effective nursing care to oncology and haematology patients.
– Supporting the delivery of Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment in line with established procedures.
– Working closely with doctors, nurses and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
– Involving patients, relatives and carers in care planning and decision-making where appropriate.
– Maintaining high standards of clinical practice and patient safety.
– Developing the specialist skills required for work within an oncology and haematology environment.
– Contributing to the department’s approach to patient and public involvement.
– Taking part in training, supervision and continuing professional development.
– Working flexibly as part of the Monday-to-Friday rota.

Essential qualifications
Applicants must have:
– A nursing degree or equivalent qualification.
– Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Essential experience and knowledge
You should be able to demonstrate:
– A sound understanding of contemporary nursing practice.

Desirable experience
The following would be advantageous:

– Previous exposure to oncology, haematology or SACT services.

The role is based at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.
