Job Description

West Park Hospital is looking for an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse to join Elm Ward, a 20-bed acute inpatient unit providing care and support to female patients experiencing mental health difficulties.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a nurse who is confident working in a busy hospital environment and committed to delivering safe, compassionate and recovery-focused care.

Please note: This position is not available to newly registered nurses. Applicants must hold current NMC registration and have successfully completed their preceptorship programme.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Staff Nurse on Elm Ward, you will play an important role in supporting patients throughout their treatment and recovery. Your responsibilities will include:

– Providing high-quality, person-centred nursing care to patients with mental health needs.
– Supporting patients to manage their conditions and achieve the best possible level of recovery.
– Carrying out appropriate clinical, nursing and therapeutic interventions.
– Taking professional responsibility for the care and wellbeing of patients.
– Acting as a named nurse and maintaining effective care plans.
– Working collaboratively with patients, relatives, carers and other professionals.
– Supporting student nurses and contributing to the learning and development of colleagues.
– Helping with the effective day-to-day operation of the ward.
– Promoting a respectful, positive and professional approach to mental health care.
– Working in accordance with evidence-based practice, professional standards and the Trust’s values.

Working With the Multidisciplinary Team

You will become an integral member of a multidisciplinary team, working alongside healthcare professionals to provide coordinated and patient-focused care.

The role involves regular interaction with service users and their families or carers. You will be expected to demonstrate compassionate leadership, act as a positive example to colleagues and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the ward.

You will also have an opportunity to influence how the service develops by working collaboratively with patients, carers and fellow team members.
