About the Role
An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Band 7 Registered Learning Disability Nurse to join our community-based Learning Disability CAMHS services.
The successful candidate will work across the North and South Learning Disability Community Teams, alongside the PBS+ and IPBS teams. This is an exciting role for a motivated professional who is passionate about supporting children and young people with learning disabilities and complex needs.
We are seeking a nurse who can demonstrate strong clinical knowledge, a positive approach to patient-centred care, and confidence in assessment and risk management. You will take responsibility for managing an allocated caseload while working closely with colleagues across a multidisciplinary team.
The role also includes providing clinical leadership, guidance and supervision to less experienced members of the community teams.
Key Responsibilities
As a Band 7 Learning Disability Nurse, you will:
– Manage a caseload of children and young people across Durham and Darlington who require support through the PBS pathway.
– Complete comprehensive assessments and contribute to effective risk management.
– Develop an understanding of each young person’s individual needs, strengths and circumstances.
– Work alongside children, young people, families and carers to develop person-centred approaches to care.
– Support staff in understanding complex behaviours and presentations.
– Provide clinical supervision, advice and professional support to members of the wider team.
– Work closely with CAMHS colleagues and external partner organisations.
– Contribute to the development of appropriate formulations and working hypotheses around behaviours that may indicate distress.
– Provide clinical leadership and promote effective multidisciplinary working.
– Help ensure that care and support are delivered safely, effectively and in partnership with the young person and those involved in their care.
Working With Other Services
The post holder will work collaboratively with the wider CAMHS network and relevant partner agencies. You will contribute to assessments and help teams develop a clearer understanding of the needs of children and young people.
A key part of the role will be supporting colleagues to consider the factors behind behaviours that may cause concern or distress. Through collaborative assessment and formulation, you will help develop appropriate and individualised support strategies.
