Job Description

About Junior

Junior is a fast-growing technology company developing advanced LLM-powered workflow solutions designed to transform investment research for private-market investors.

Our platform is already used by leading global private equity and consulting organisations and supports investment activity worth hundreds of billions of dollars each year. The business is profitable, bootstrapped, and growing, with a team of more than 50 people working across London, New York, and Sydney.

Following a significant period of growth, we increased revenue tenfold during 2025. We are now looking for an experienced finance leader who can help build the financial infrastructure needed for our next stage of development.

The Opportunity

As Head of Finance, you will take ownership of Junior’s finance function, from day-to-day accounting and financial operations through to quote-to-cash, compliance, reporting, and financing readiness.

This is a hands-on leadership position. You will have considerable influence over which activities should remain internal, which should be outsourced, and where technology or AI can remove manual work.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Quote-to-Cash

Take responsibility for the complete customer billing and cash cycle, including:

– Developing and reviewing quote and contract structures.
– Managing the invoicing process and ensuring invoices are issued accurately and on time.
– Overseeing collections and cash application.
– Managing revenue recognition and related activities during financial close.
– Partnering with engineers and data scientists to develop billing processes for customers using bespoke or usage-based pricing arrangements.

Automation and Finance Technology

Build a finance operation that is efficient, scalable, and highly automated.

You will:

– Identify repetitive finance processes that can be automated.
– Make effective use of AI-powered finance solutions.
– Work closely with Junior’s technical teams to improve financial workflows.
– Assist with implementing new finance systems and integrating accounting and operational tools.

Financial Operations, Controls and Compliance

Maintain strong financial controls while ensuring the business meets its accounting, tax, and regulatory obligations.

Your responsibilities will include:

– Managing cash across multiple entities and currencies.
– Overseeing intercompany transactions, including recharges, balances, funding movements, and transfer-pricing documentation.
– Coordinating tax and statutory compliance.
– Ensuring accounting practices remain aligned with US GAAP, IFRS, UK requirements, internal policies, and applicable regulations.
– Leading external audit processes and working with auditors to ensure deadlines are met.
– Advising the business on appropriate accounting treatment for complex transactions.
– Preparing and maintaining accounting policies and technical accounting memoranda.

Accounting and Financial Reporting

You will oversee the company’s accounting and reporting activities, either directly or through external accounting providers.

This includes:

– Preparing financial statements under US GAAP and IFRS for the UK entity.
– Running month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
– Supervising accounts payable and receivable activities.
– Overseeing payroll accounting and cash management.
– Managing external accounting service providers where appropriate.
– Maintaining accurate and reliable management accounts.

Fundraising and Financing

Help ensure Junior remains financially prepared for future growth and potential fundraising activity.

You may also:

– Play a leading role in future fundraising rounds.
– Manage financial diligence processes involving customers and investors.
– Maintain relationships with banks and credit facility providers.
– Ensure financial records and processes are ready for detailed external review.

FP&A and Business Support

Work alongside FP&A, operations, and senior leaders to turn financial information into useful business insights.

You will contribute to:

– Financial analysis and decision-making.
– Budget versus actual reporting.
– Variance analysis.
– Cross-functional planning and operational initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking an experienced finance professional who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to build processes in a rapidly evolving SaaS environment.

Essential Experience

You should have:

– At least 8 years of finance experience, including significant exposure to high-growth SaaS businesses.
– At least 2 years in a finance leadership position.
– A recognised accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CPA.
– At least 5 years’ experience within high-growth SaaS companies.
– At least 2 years’ experience managing complex quote-to-cash processes.

Experience as the sole finance hire or Head of Finance for at least two years would be particularly valuable. Previous experience beginning your career at a leading public accounting firm would also be advantageous.

Skills and Approach

Strong quote-to-cash expertise
Junior works with highly customised usage-based pricing arrangements that can differ considerably between customers and product lines. You should be comfortable designing and managing finance processes around this level of complexity.

A builder and owner
You should be confident creating accounting processes and controls from the ground up rather than relying solely on established systems.

Technical accounting knowledge
Strong knowledge of US GAAP is essential, together with familiarity with IFRS and/or UK GAAP.

Practical and adaptable
We value people who can develop financial systems around the needs of the business and adapt processes as the company evolves.

AI-focused mindset
You should be comfortable using LLMs such as Claude as part of your everyday work and have an interest in applying AI-based finance tools to improve efficiency.
