Role Overview

You’ll join a well-established and supportive psychology network within Somerset, contributing both to the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) and the Dementia Assessment & Support Service (DASS). This position combines clinical leadership with hands-on neuropsychological practice, all within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
What This Role Involves
Specialist Clinical Practice
You will take a lead role in supporting older adults experiencing cognitive decline, particularly those living with conditions such as dementia.
- Conduct detailed neuropsychological assessments and interpret complex findings
Develop clear, person-focused formulations to guide care
Support diagnosis of neurodegenerative and cognitive conditions
Deliver tailored interventions, including cognitive rehabilitation
Provide emotional and psychological support to individuals and their families
Clinical work will align with national dementia care priorities
Leadership, Training & Supervision
As a senior clinician, you’ll influence both practice and people.
- Provide neuropsychological supervision to team members
Deliver training to improve understanding of cognitive disorders
Promote evidence-based approaches across services
Support junior staff and trainees in their development
Professional regulation guidance
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
You’ll work closely with a wide network of professionals to ensure coordinated and effective care.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, occupational therapists, and social workers
Contribute to integrated care planning within community services
Support continuity between different care pathways
Service Development & Quality Improvement
This role offers scope to shape and improve services.
- Contribute to audits and service evaluation

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
Chartered membership with the British Psychological Society (BPS)
Entry on the Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists (SRCN)
Doctoral-level training in Clinical Psychology
Advanced knowledge of neuropsychological theory and practice
Training in at least two psychological therapy models
Desirable Qualifications
- Formal training in clinical supervision
Essential Experience
- Extensive post-qualification experience in neuropsychological assessment and diagnosis
Experience working with older adults, including dementia care
Delivering supervision, teaching, and training
Working within complex multidisciplinary teams
Involvement in service development and improvement
Strong understanding of risk management in clinical settings
Desirable Experience
- Experience working across diverse cultural contexts
