About the Role
As the Lead Clinical Pharmacist, you will provide strategic and clinical leadership across gastroenterology services, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of medicines.
You will play a key role in advancing biosimilar uptake, improving prescribing efficiency, and embedding quality improvement into everyday practice.
Your Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
- Lead the gastroenterology pharmacy service across inpatient and ward-based settings
Provide expert pharmaceutical input into patient care decisions
Ensure adherence to national, regional, and local prescribing guidelines
Support multidisciplinary ward rounds and clinical decision-making
Medicines Optimisation & Cost Efficiency
- Drive the use of cost-effective therapies, including biosimilar medicines
Identify opportunities for improved prescribing efficiency
Support safe switching between biological and biosimilar treatments
Service Development & Quality Improvement
- Design and implement service improvement initiatives
Use quality improvement methodologies to demonstrate impact on patient care
Contribute to innovation in medicines management services
Governance & Leadership
- Lead on medicines governance and compliance
Ensure safe prescribing practices and risk management
Provide professional leadership to pharmacy and clinical teams
