About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity for a medically qualified clinician to join a world-leading research environment focused on understanding and treating dementia.

Based at the Dementia Research Centre, you will work at the intersection of clinical practice and cutting-edge research, contributing to studies that explore the causes, progression, and potential treatment pathways for neurodegenerative diseases.

Your work will span multiple disciplines, combining clinical neurology, imaging, biomarkers, and population-based research, making this role ideal for individuals pursuing a career in academic medicine or clinical neuroscience.

Your Contribution

You will play a key role in a major longitudinal research project involving participants from a nationally recognised birth cohort.

Core Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments of research participants
    Support advanced diagnostic procedures, including PET/CT imaging and biological sampling
    Assist with genetic studies and biobanking processes
    Contribute to data management, cleaning, and analysis
    Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across UCL research units
    Support clinical activities at a specialist neurology hospital in London

You will engage with leading experts across multiple institutions, gaining exposure to a highly collaborative and intellectually stimulating research environment.

Training & Development

  • Opportunity to register for a part-time PhD alongside your role

About You

You are a motivated clinician with a strong interest in research and patient-centred care.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered medical practitioner with a licence to practise in the UK
    Completion of MRCP (or international equivalent)
    Experience in neurology or a related specialty (minimum SHO/ST2 level or equivalent)
    Competence in lumbar puncture procedures
    Demonstrated academic potential or track record

    Excellent organisational and analytical skills
    Ability to work independently while contributing to team-based research
    High level of professionalism and sensitivity when working with patients and research participants

Salary & Contract Details

  • Salary range: £51,140 – £78,670 per annum (including London Allowance)
    Appointment aligned with NHS clinical pay scales depending on experience
    Fixed-term contract (initially one year, with potential extensions)
    Honorary NHS contract required (subject to DBS clearance)
