Role Overview

As a Consultant, you will provide expert clinical care in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, contributing to both routine and complex cases. You will also play a key role in shaping services, supporting junior staff, and developing specialist areas within the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality care across obstetrics and gynaecology services
    Manage complex and high-risk pregnancies, including those with pre-existing medical conditions
    Contribute to service development and clinical leadership
    Support and supervise junior doctors and multidisciplinary teams
    Participate in departmental teaching, audit, and quality improvement initiatives

Essential Requirements

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise
    Inclusion on the Specialist Register (or expected within 6 months)
    MBBS (or equivalent medical degree)
    MRCOG (or equivalent specialist qualification)
    Completion of CCT in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (or within 6 months)
    Extensive clinical experience in obstetrics
    Expertise in high-risk obstetrics and maternal medicine
    Competence in fetal growth scanning and Doppler assessment
    Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Postgraduate qualification such as MSc or equivalent
    Specialist training in maternal medicine or high-risk fetal care (e.g., SITM)
    Qualification in medical education
    Experience in labour ward leadership or advanced practice

Safeguarding & Compliance

This role is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check in line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975.
