Overview of the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and compassionate mental health professional to join the community team based at The Anchorage Clinic in Whitby.
In this role, you will be part of a supportive and multidisciplinary team delivering mental health care to adults across the Whitby and Ryedale area. The setting combines a peaceful coastal environment with a busy and varied clinical workload—ideal for someone who enjoys both challenge and meaningful patient engagement.
Your Contribution
As a Senior Community Practitioner, you will:
Manage a caseload of patients as a named care coordinator
Deliver personalised care plans, working both independently and within a multidisciplinary team (MDT)
Support patients throughout their journey—from referral to discharge
Participate in the duty rota, responding to urgent needs
Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to junior staff
Contribute to the training and development of students on placement
Work collaboratively with families, carers, and external partners

What You’ll Need
Essential Qualifications
Professional registration with a recognised UK regulatory body
Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Minimum 18 months post-qualification experience, including completed preceptorship
Teaching/mentorship qualification (or willingness to achieve within timeframe)
Strong literacy, numeracy, and IT skills
Desirable
Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field
Leadership or management training
Experience & Knowledge
Essential
Experience working with individuals with mental health needs
Ability to work collaboratively with service users and carers
Experience in clinical supervision or mentoring
Strong understanding of:
Risk assessment and management
Psychological approaches to care
UK mental health legislation
Desirable
Community mental health experience
Knowledge of Quality Improvement approaches
Key Skills
Ability to communicate complex and sensitive information clearly
Strong teamwork and leadership capabilities
Competence in care coordination and clinical decision-making
Teaching, training, and assessment skills
