Job Description

About the Role

The University is seeking an experienced Intellectual Property (IP) and Commercialisation Manager to manage and deliver a portfolio of enterprise and innovation projects.

You will play a key role within the Innovation and Business Partnerships team, providing specialist IP support to academic staff and students. Core responsibilities include:

Advising on intellectual property rights (patents, trademarks, copyrights, etc.)
Reviewing and assessing new IP disclosures
Conducting IP due diligence in research collaborations
Developing commercialisation and exploitation strategies
Liaising with external patent attorneys and legal advisors
Supporting the negotiation of licensing and commercial agreements
Delivering IP training and awareness sessions
Supporting the commercialisation of research outputs

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

Experience in IP commercialisation within a university, research organisation, or industry
Knowledge of UK intellectual property law and technology transfer
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Experience with IP databases, patent searching, and analysis
Understanding of licensing, contracts, and deal-making processes
Ability to manage workload independently and contribute to team delivery

A qualification in IP law or technology transfer (or equivalent experience) is desirable.
