Role Overview

This is an excellent entry-level opportunity to join a Clinical Engineering team and play a vital part in supporting patient care. As a Medical Device Support Worker, you will help ensure that essential hospital equipment is safe, available, and ready for use across the Trust.

You will be working behind the scenes to keep clinical services running smoothly—supporting healthcare professionals by managing equipment such as beds, infusion pumps, and other medical devices.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the distribution, collection, and tracking of medical equipment
    Ensuring devices are clean, safe, and ready for clinical use
    Supporting equipment library services across hospital departments
    Assisting with basic maintenance checks and reporting faults
    Moving and handling equipment safely using appropriate aids
    Working with clinical teams to ensure timely access to essential devices

Essential Requirements

Skills & Abilities

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    Ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures
    Basic literacy and numeracy skills
    Physical ability to move and handle equipment safely

Experience

  • Ability to carry out routine tasks following training
    Willingness to learn and adapt in a busy healthcare setting

Desirable Criteria

Previous experience in a store, logistics, or handling environment
Basic qualifications in English or Maths (GCSE or equivalent)
Driving licence (for occasional travel between sites)

Training & Development

You will receive structured training and support, including:

  • Induction into equipment handling and safety procedures
    Ongoing development to build technical and operational skills
    Experience working within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment
