Founded in 1915, the UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies is a leading centre for the study of Central, Eastern, and South-Eastern Europe, as well as Russia, the Baltics, and Central Asia. Role Overview
This is a teaching-focused academic position designed for individuals passionate about delivering high-quality education in Politics. You will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching while supporting curriculum development and academic administration.
Your teaching will focus on governance and political economy, with flexibility to cover related areas such as:
- Public policy and institutional governance
Corruption, clientelism, and state capture
Energy and security politics
Technology and political systems
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes
Develop and update course materials in line with current research and policy developments
Assess student work and provide constructive feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and programme development
Undertake administrative and coordination duties within the department
Support an inclusive and intellectually stimulating learning environment

About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable academic with a strong commitment to teaching excellence.
Essential criteria:
- PhD in Politics or a closely related discipline (by start date)
Strong grounding in social science research methods (quantitative or mixed methods preferred)
Expertise in one or more countries within the SSEES region
Ability to teach topics related to governance or political economy
Proficiency in at least one relevant regional language
