About the Studentship

This PhD opportunity is part of a funded research project titled “Petrol Station Dreams”, supported by the Leverhulme Trust. The project explores how modern financial systems depend on migrant labour, focusing specifically on Sri Lankan Tamil workers in the UK petrol station sector.

The research examines how migration, labour, and economic systems intersect, particularly in the context of displacement following the Sri Lankan civil war. Using ethnographic methods, the project aims to understand everyday experiences, aspirations, and challenges faced by migrant workers within a highly financialised economy.
