Job Description

Overview

We are looking for two enthusiastic and compassionate individuals to join our rehabilitation teams at Thorneywood Mount. This is a rewarding opportunity to support adults with long-term mental health conditions in a structured, recovery-focused inpatient setting.

The service includes:

  • A 12-bed male rehabilitation unit
  • A 6-bed female rehabilitation unit

Both units are designed to help individuals regain independence through therapeutic engagement, personalised care, and strong collaboration with families and carers.

What You’ll Be Doing

As part of the team, you’ll take an active role in creating a positive and engaging environment for patients. Your day-to-day work will include:

  • Planning and delivering meaningful daily activities alongside nursing staff
  • Encouraging patients to participate in both group and one-to-one sessions
  • Supporting therapeutic programmes that promote recovery and independence
  • Organising social events, outings, and ward-based activities
  • Working closely with Occupational Therapists and other professionals
  • Recording patient participation clearly in electronic care records
  • Sharing observations and feedback with the multidisciplinary team (MDT)
  • You’ll also help patients reconnect with their interests by:
  • Exploring their past hobbies and preferences
  • Involving families and carers in care planning
  • Building tailored activity programmes that enhance wellbeing

Additional Responsibilities

With training and support, you may also:

  • Facilitate group sessions and develop your therapeutic skills
  • Contribute to alternative therapies such as aromatherapy or sensory-based activities
  • Liaise with community organisations to expand activity options
  • Support a varied programme of ongoing social and therapeutic engagement

Important Information

DBS Requirement:
This role requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The cost will be deducted from your salary over the first two months:

  • Standard check: £26.40
  • Enhanced check: £54.40
  • You are encouraged to subscribe to the DBS Update Service (annual fee applies).

Visa & Sponsorship

Although the organisation offers visa sponsorship for some roles, this position does not meet the salary or skill threshold required for a Skilled Worker visa.
