Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical Duties

  • Conduct face-to-face and telephone consultations
  • Manage acute and chronic medical conditions
  • Carry out home visits where clinically appropriate
  • Review, issue, and authorise repeat prescriptions
  • Maintain accurate and structured patient records

2. Clinical Decision-Making

  • Assess patients presenting with undiagnosed or complex conditions
  • Make independent, evidence-based clinical decisions
  • Provide timely referrals when specialist input is required

3. Preventative Care & Health Promotion

4. Quality, Governance & Compliance

  • Contribute to audits, quality improvement, and clinical governance
  • Ensure compliance with Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) standards
  • Maintain confidentiality and data protection in line with regulations

About the Practice

Heacham Group Practice is a long-standing and highly regarded GP surgery serving around 7,600 patients across two sites. The team includes experienced GPs, advanced nurse practitioners, specialist nurses, and healthcare assistants, supported by an efficient administrative team.

The practice is part of the Coastal Primary Care Network (PCN), working collaboratively with a wide range of healthcare professionals to deliver integrated care. It is also a recognised training practice for future GPs.

Person Specification

Essential Requirements

  • Fully qualified GP with valid registration with the GMC
  • Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List
  • Up-to-date appraisal and revalidation (where applicable)
  • Strong experience in chronic disease management and preventative care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
