Role Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist—or someone ready to step into their first Band 7 role—to lead within a specialist Neurological Outpatients service. This fixed-term post (maternity cover from April 2026) offers a chance to strengthen both clinical expertise and leadership capability.
You will be part of a supportive and collaborative team, managing a varied caseload of patients with neurological conditions ranging from moderate to highly complex. Alongside clinical duties, you will contribute to service development and pathway design, including areas such as Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
- Deliver advanced physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with neurological conditions
- Manage a specialist caseload, including individuals with chronic and complex presentations
- Provide clinical leadership and act as a role model for evidence-based practice
- Deputise for the Clinical Team Leader when required
Operational Management
- Support the day-to-day running of the Neuro Outpatients Physiotherapy service
- Coordinate team activities, workload allocation, and service delivery
- Contribute to workforce planning, rota management, and service efficiency
- Ensure compliance with clinical governance and quality standards
Team Development & Supervision
- Supervise and mentor Band 6 physiotherapists, technical staff, and students
- Conduct appraisals and support staff performance and professional growth
- Participate in recruitment and workforce development activities
Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate complex clinical information clearly to patients, families, and colleagues
- Adapt communication methods for patients with cognitive, sensory, or language challenges
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including consultants, nurses, occupational therapists, and GPs
- Build strong links with community services and external partners
Service Improvement
- Lead and contribute to service development and innovation initiatives
- Support implementation of national healthcare standards and policies
- Participate in audits, research, and continuous improvement activities

Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy (or equivalent)
- Current UK professional registration
Experience
- Experience working at Band 6 level within neurological physiotherapy
- Experience supervising staff and/or students
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in neurological rehabilitation

Important Information
- This role may be eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship, subject to meeting UKVI requirements
