Role Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a motivated Healthcare Assistant / Phlebotomist to join the Community Treatment and Care Service (CTAC) within NHS Forth Valley Community Nursing Services.
This role forms part of the expanding community healthcare service that supports general practice and community nursing teams. The successful candidate will contribute to patient care by carrying out delegated clinical tasks such as blood sample collection and monitoring vital signs while supporting community-based treatment services.

About the Service
The Community Treatment and Care Service (CTAC) provides essential clinical support within primary care settings across the Forth Valley area. The service helps ensure that patients receive timely treatment and monitoring within community settings rather than hospital environments.
Healthcare assistants working within CTAC play an important role in supporting both general practice teams and community nurses, ensuring efficient delivery of routine clinical procedures and patient monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care Support
- Carry out delegated clinical tasks including phlebotomy (blood collection) and blood pressure monitoring.
- Support patients attending community clinics by providing reassurance and professional care.
- Assist clinical teams in delivering safe and effective healthcare services.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with general practitioners, community nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and patients to ensure coordinated care.
Administrative and IT Tasks
- Maintain accurate patient records using healthcare IT systems.
- Support clinical documentation and data recording when required.
Service Delivery
- Contribute to efficient clinic operations and patient flow.
- Maintain high standards of professionalism and patient confidentiality.

Travel Requirements
The role involves working across multiple healthcare sites within the NHS Forth Valley region. Therefore, the ability and willingness to travel between locations is essential.

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours, with pay adjusted to maintain the same overall salary.
Safeguarding Requirements
This role requires membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme, administered by Disclosure Scotland. This ensures that individuals working with vulnerable people meet appropriate safeguarding standards.
