About the Role
St Richard’s Hospice is seeking compassionate and motivated Registered Nurses to join its In-Patient Unit team. This role focuses on delivering high-quality palliative care to patients living with complex or life-limiting conditions.
As a Staff Nurse, you will contribute to a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing holistic, person-centred care. Your work will support not only patients but also their families and loved ones during challenging stages of illness.
The role involves working long shifts on a rotating schedule, including both day and night duties.
- Typical Shift Pattern
- Day shift: 08:00 – 20:15
- Night shift: 20:00 – 08:15
- These shifts run across weekdays and weekends as part of a rota system.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will play an important part in ensuring patients receive compassionate, evidence-based care.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering specialist palliative and end-of-life nursing care.
- Assessing patient needs and creating personalised care plans.
- Implementing and reviewing care interventions to ensure the best outcomes.
- Collaborating closely with doctors, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Supporting and guiding patients’ families through difficult health journeys.
- Maintaining high standards of professional nursing practice.
You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of care by evaluating clinical practices and ensuring services remain patient-focused.
Candidate Profile
The hospice is looking for nurses who combine clinical competence with empathy and compassion.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Registration as an Adult Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Ongoing professional development since qualification.
- Strong knowledge of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
- The ability to apply ethical and legal frameworks in clinical practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
