About the Role

Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Housekeeper to join the Hotel Services Team at Eastfield Clinic.

As a Housekeeper, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and supportive environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This is an opportunity to combine practical cleaning and catering duties with a patient-focused approach, contributing directly to the recovery and wellbeing of those in our care.

You will work in a multi-professional environment, collaborating with clinical and support teams, while also demonstrating initiative, attention to detail, and a positive attitude.

Please note: This role meet the minimum salary threshold for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the Right to Work in the UK

Key Responsibilities

As a Housekeeper, your duties will include:

  • Delivering cleaning and catering services to patient, office, and communal areas.
  • Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
  • Using cleaning chemicals, equipment, and motorised cleaning machines safely and efficiently.
  • Preparing and serving food where required, and maintaining kitchen hygiene.
  • Supporting patient-led assessments of cleanliness (PLACE inspections) and deep-cleaning routines.
  • Demonstrating attention to detail and ensuring high standards of cleanliness throughout the Trust.
  • Assisting with laundry, washing, and ironing as needed.
  • Following Trust policies regarding confidentiality, infection control, and hygiene.
  • Guidance on COSHH and health & safety standards
  • PLACE inspection standards

About You

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 (must be obtained within 12 months if not already held).
  • Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 (GCSE grades 9–4 / A*–C equivalent).
  • IT skills to Level 2.
  • Experience in cleaning duties and the use of chemicals and equipment.
  • Experience in mental health or learning disability environments is essential.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow protocols and instructions and work independently.
  • Attention to detail, reliability, and flexibility to cover shifts at short notice.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • NVQ Level 2 in Housekeeping (or willingness to complete within agreed timescales).
  • Experience working in hospital or clinical environments.
  • Experience in catering or food service roles.
  • Guidance on workplace training and development

Working Conditions

  • Based at Eastfield Clinic, North Yorkshire, working in shifts within 7:00am – 8:00pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as needed.
  • Must be able to travel independently to meet the operational needs of the Trust.
  • Guidance on travel and employment rights in healthcare roles

Induction and Training

Successful candidates will undergo a 5-day induction programme covering:

  • Trust policies and procedures
  • Health, safety, and infection control standards
  • Cleaning and catering procedures
  • Working safely in a mental health and learning disabilities setting
  • Further training and qualifications will be offered as required, supporting continuous professional development.

Compliance Requirements

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check is required

Skilled Worker visa applicants must provide a criminal record certificate from all countries resided in for 12 months or more in the last 10 years
