About UCL Finance
The UCL Finance Division is central to the university’s success, managing financial performance, compliance, and strategy. The division comprises four directorates:
- Management Accounting
- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Finance Business Partnering
- Financial Services
We are currently expanding our Management Accounting team, which leads on internal reporting, compliance to regulators, and delivering high-quality insights to senior leaders across UCL’s faculties and departments.
Role Overview
We are seeking proactive and skilled Management Accountants to join our team on a fixed-term basis. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial sustainability while supporting strategic decision-making across the university.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a team of Assistant Management Accountants and Accounts Assistants.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items promptly.
- Support the month-end close process, including accruals, prepayments, and journal postings.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial reporting and departmental insights.
- Deliver and support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis projects.
- Collaborate with wider Finance teams to implement process improvements.
- Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across faculties and departments to provide actionable insights.
- This role requires both technical precision and strategic insight to support UCL’s complex organisational structure.
Who We’re Looking For
You will be an experienced, qualified accountant who thrives in a dynamic, high‑pressure environment.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- Recognised accountancy qualification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent.
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Proven experience in financial planning, analysis, and management reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting financial insights to senior leaders.
- Leadership experience, with the ability to guide, support, and develop team members.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills to handle competing priorities efficiently.
- Knowledge of UK finance regulation and reporting requirements is highly desirable

Salary & Benefits
Starting salary at UCL Grade 7‑8 (£54,931 – £64,644), including London Allowance. Benefits include:
