About the Position

The University of Sussex is seeking a Research Projects Coordinator to support mental health research initiatives within the Sussex Mental Health Research (SuMHeR) Centre.

Working under the guidance of Kathryn Greenwood, the successful candidate will assist in coordinating research activities connected to the mental health theme of the Applied Research Collaboration Kent Surrey Sussex (ARC-KSS).

The role contributes to projects focused on improving mental health, wellbeing, and physical health outcomes, while also addressing inequalities in access to care across the Kent, Surrey, and Sussex region.

Although this is a small part-time position, it plays an important role in helping researchers collaborate effectively and ensuring the smooth coordination of research activities.

Key Responsibilities

The coordinator will provide administrative and organisational support across a range of research activities. Responsibilities may evolve as projects develop, but core tasks include:

Meeting Coordination

  • Organising meetings for core research groups and specialist sub-themes
  • Preparing agendas and distributing documentation ahead of meetings
  • Taking accurate meeting minutes and recording decisions
  • Monitoring follow-up actions and ensuring progress on agreed tasks

Communication and Liaison

  • Acting as a central contact point for research team members
  • Coordinating communication with external partners such as NHS organisations, charities, and industry collaborators
  • Supporting collaboration across institutions involved in ARC-KSS research initiatives

Research and Administrative Support

  • Assisting with publicity and dissemination of research activities and findings
  • Organising documentation and records related to research projects
  • Conducting basic desk-based research and compiling relevant information when needed
