About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, innovative Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist to join the PLAN-accredited Portsmouth Liaison Psychiatry Team at Queen Alexandra Hospital. This role offers 10 programmed activities (PAs) in a fast-paced hospital environment, providing expert psychiatric care to patients with complex mental health needs.
As a senior clinician, you will play a pivotal role in integrated care, delivering comprehensive mental health assessments, consultations, and treatment planning for patients across all adult mental health specialties, with opportunities to influence service development and clinical leadership.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and interventions in acute hospital settings.
- Provide clinical leadership and mentoring to junior doctors, trainees, and multidisciplinary team members.
- Support the implementation of evidence-based practice and service improvement initiatives.
- Participate in quality audits and research activities to enhance patient outcomes.
- Offer specialist advice on complex cases, collaborating across departments and with external agencies.
- Contribute to educational programs, including academic teaching and supervision of trainees.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
- MRCPsych or equivalent postgraduate qualification
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Adult Psychiatry
- Approved under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act 1983
Desirable:
- Experience in educational supervision, leadership, and clinical governance
- Participation in research, audits, or quality improvement initiatives
